Remember when people used to say how the Arctic Monkeys made good music despite being shit musicians? Today I read that the reason the drummer became the drummer was because every other instrument was already taken. Doesn't that seem crazy? Especially considering the fact that the rhythm section seems to be what sets the band apart most of the time. I always thought of the Arctic Monkeys as semi-thuggish. Sort of rock crossed with hip hop somehow? The words are so important and the beats are so distinct. They are a really good band, and I was just thinking about that.
